We ain’t getting no younger, we all know that though right?
I had a friend that I was close with once upon a time, and one day I saw him and he just didn’t look the same. One day he looked more “round” than normal. I told him to go to the doctor, and it just didn’t seem like a good choice for him. We hung out for a while and then I went home as usual. I couldn’t help see the similarities between the A few days later I decided to go visit him and we had the same talk, leading to the same result. The next time I saw my friend, I made fun of his new shape until he told me to leave. The next 2 weeks I repeated that and each time I told him to go see a doctor. Well about a month later he called me and told me thanks. I asked him why he was thanking me. He told me that he finally went to the doctor, and the doctor gave him a list of things that he needed to fix immediately. I was glad that he went to see a doctor, but it almost made me cry when he spoke his next sentence. He told me that the doctor gave him told him, “Whoever told you to come in saved your life. I’m not sure how much longer you would have lived without getting on the right meds and changing your habits. He was diagnosed with diabetes among other things and learned that it was time to stop drinking alcohol as much.
We have to start listening to our bodies as soon as it speaks to us. I go get bi-annual blood tests to try to catch my problems before they become irreversible. Pain means something. Fatigue means something. Internal flutters mean something. I bet when that brown eye starts to drool, you sprint to a toilet. People don’t want to poop on theirselves because people can see it. The things people can’t see are far more dangerous.
Please trust these few things:
Vegetables and fruits will do you better than fast food on any day.
Alcohol will kill you silently.
Tobacco will shrink your veins and cause heart issues
Exercise really will help you over time, not just how you look, but how you feel.
If you feel like you can’t do it alone just reach out. Other people want to live healthier too.
I said all that to say this, “take your ass to the doctor, and when you get there, tell him to test you for everything, Cholesterol, AIDS, Vitamins and deficiencies, allergies, Cancer, and anything that might be in your family. Please, it might save your life. It’s better to “live with it” than to “die from it”. You might have gotten use to your check-engine light being on. Please take your body to the human-mechanic today. At least schedule an appointment. I’m rooting for you to win, but none of that matters if you can’t finish each race. I often advocate for mental health, but HEALTH matters, in all forms. Feel free to comment and let me know what your doc says.
