Please let your children know that they can be the person who owns a business instead of being the employee. The way that we raise our children to see the world is really what will make the difference in how they grow. I hope that my kids all own, and I try to put that seed in their brains every chance that I get. We as black people do not own enough. We do not have enough owners that we can relate to, and that only matters because of the way the money is used. If the black community spends money with each other, and we socialize with each other publicly, and we educate our children, the economic status will change for us all. The goal would be for the black business owners to put money into the community by purchasing and renovating properties, and creating opportunities for the youth. Cleaner streets and higher employment rates will make the property value rise, which will allow our community to maximize profits from home sales and create more money for schools. Why don’t we work on these things more? Why is there hatred and mistrust in our own communities? We have things we need to address in order to make this vision a reality. It does not involve hatred towards other races, It involves love for own own race. I saw a news article about a new all white neighborhood being created. We can do the same thing, without being in government housing. We can take more pride in our own areas. We can spend more time beautifying the areas we call home. We can spend more time doing things that will help us. Please teach your children to dream. A dream can come true if the right amount of work is applied. Please don’t let your mistakes become the fear of your children. Help your children as much as you can. Encourage your children to try, and pick them up when they fail. Help them learn where they went wrong and tell them to try again. They can do it. You can do it. We can do it.
Remember that we our who our children want to be. If we show them that we are smart and capable, that’s what they will emulate. If we show them how to do drugs and sleep with multiple partners, that’s what hey will do. A lot of parents forget about the normal factor. In some countries, they stone mean and women to death for cheating. In a country like this, the children see this, and eventually become a part of the crowd throwing the stones. To us Americans that may seem horrific, but to them its another day. To them its a normal consequence like going to jail for stealing here in the United States. In some of those same countries, they cut off peoples hands for stealing. We have to realize that we create “normal” for our kids. We have to remember that we set the stage for their lives. Some of us have it harder than others because of the other parents, but that does not mean we can take a break or just let things happen. We have to set good examples at all times. What happens when the kids aren’t around is none of their business, but be the best example you can be while they are in your presence, They will become successful and will thank you for everything.
